Downtown to Midtown Bicycle Tour in Atlanta

Bicycle through Cabbage Town

Bicycle through Cabbage Town

See as much of Atlanta as you can in 3 hours on this 14-15 mile tour. Atlanta is beautiful and hilly and this challenging tour has been designed with that in mind.

After cycling through neighborhoods on the south side of the city, Underground and Fairlie Poplar, you'll leave downtown on Peachtree Street and head north. Along Peachtree you'll see the Fox Theater, Georgian Terrace Hotel, Margaret Mitchell's home and the many new skyscrapers of Midtown and High Museum.

You'll enter Ansley Park and cycle through this premier neighborhood filled with mansions, parks and wide, tree-lined streets. You'll bike by the Atlanta Botanical Garden, Piedmont Park and Virginia Highland before returning to Inman Park via Little Five Points.

This is a comprehensive and "exercise oriented" tour.

FAQ

Is a guided bike tour for me?
This tour is for people who enjoy the outdoors, are comfortable riding a bike and want to learn about Atlanta in a fun and active way. You'll cycle on quiet neighborhood roads as well as city streets with traffic.

Do you allow children or teens on the tours?
Teens, 16 and older, are able to participate when accompanied by an adult.

Is it safe to ride on Atlanta city streets?
Yes, a controlled group following the rules will be safe. The guides are trained urban cyclists with plenty of group riding experience and will follow all necessary steps to keep you safe. You should be comfortable with the idea of riding alongside traffic in a controlled group, even if they have not experienced this first hand.

Can I participate if I am new to riding a bike, have never used hand brakes or don't know how to shift gears? It is not recommended beginner cyclists or individuals who do not know how to use hand brakes or shift mult-gears to participate in this tour. Knowing how to use hand brakes and shift gears must be clearly demonstrated before you can join the tour.

Can I participate if I am in poor health or lead an inactive lifestyle?
If you are in poor health or lead a sedentary lifestyle, this tour is not recommended for you. Even something as minor as a bad cold can impact your ability to complete the tour. Please join when you are stronger and healthier!

What should I wear, what do I need to bring and what should I leave behind? A "comfort" bike is provided as well as a helmet and a bottle of water. It's recommended that you wear seasonally appropriate clothing and closed toe shoes (sneakers are best). Although athletic clothing is not required, please refrain from wearing pants/jeans that have flared legs. Bring your camera and an extra water or energy drink if you typically drink a lot of fluid when you exercise.

There are no lockers for personal belongings, so leave valuables in your car or at the hotel.

Will there be places to stop for a bathroom break along the way?
Yes. There will be a stop at a clean public restroom about two-thirds of the way through the bike tour. There are also options along the way if there are emergencies.

Do we stop to eat along the way?
When you stop for a restroom break, you'll have a few minutes to purchase a quick snack if necessary. It's best to eat about 45 minutes to an hour before the tour to ensure you have enough energy for the ride.

Tour does not operate on January 1, Thanksgiving, December 24, 25 or 31.
